Does
Cobra offer factory support for up and coming racers?
The
short answer is yes! By and large, the largest chunk of Cobra’s marketing
budget is spent back on its riders. Sometimes that is in the form of direct
sponsorship, however, much of the time those efforts are in the form of support
at races large and small.
Why
do you offer sponsorships?
Two reasons:
1) Having
the fastest kids in the world racing and winning on our machines shows what they
are capable of, and that helps sell more bikes. 2) By constantly testing the
limits of our products through our race team, we are able to continuously
improve what we sell.
What
does it take to be chosen as a member of Team Cobra?
Cobra has three levels of sponsorship that are
recognized by the factory: Factory Rider, National Support, and Regional
Support.
In order to reach the factory level, a rider has to
have won several motos at the nation’s premier events (Loretta Lynn’s, Ponca
City). We currently have three factory riders, and each one of them has several
national titles to their credit.
In order to qualify for National support, a rider
has to have proven speed at the national level (consistent Top Five capability
at the big events), and they must make a commitment to race four of the eight
big events (Spring Classic, GNC Final at Oak Hill, World Mini GP, NMA Grand
National Championship, Loretta’s, Branson, Mini O’s). Cobra sponsors a total
of about ten National level riders.
The
Regional program is shared between the factory and our dealers. This
program is designed to help out regional level racers, and in turn give our
dealers more exposure through local kids that race often and present themselves
well at the track. If you don't have a local dealer, please check our web
site and use the dealer locator.
If you can't find anyone local that suits your needs, please let us know, and we
can help you locate someone who can serve you well.
How
is Team Cobra chosen?
For
the most part, Cobra National and Factory team racers are picked by monitoring
performance at the national events. For any team rider, we also require a resume
(including grades), and a detailed account of the upcoming year’s race
schedule.
If
you wish to forward a resume to Cobra for consideration, please email it to:

Do
you support international riders?
We do support a few (we
have team riders in Canada, Mexico, and Europe currently), however, these riders
are chose carefully based on their local market’s sales prospects and the
family’s willingness to travel internationally for big race events.
Do
you offer support for ATV racers?
We currently do not support
any ATV racers. This decision is based on the relatively small size of the
market compared to motorcycles.
