2013 Cobra Tales Official Rules  

We want you to tell us a Cobra Story, by capturing the best footage of a Cobra in action. 


The “Cobra Tales” Video Contest begins February 2013, and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on April 30, 2013 May 31, 2013. (Due to unusual weather patterns experienced this spring, we have decided to extend the Cobra Tales contest until May 31, 2013.)


To enter, create a video (see just one type of example below) using footage you capture of a Cobra in action.  All material submitted must be original work (professional video footage is not permitted.)

Upload your entry to a personal YouTube account.  Visit www.youtube.com to create a free account.  Make sure the video’s privacy settings are set to “Unlisted,” before submitting.

Complete the Official Contest Entry Form. Send an email containing the link to your video along with the Official Entry Form to contest@cobramotorcycle.com with “Cobra Tales Video Contest” in the subject line.


The first step is to impress the panel of judges. The judges will watch and analyze every entry received.  The Video Submissions will be narrowed down to five semi-finalists. From there, the semi-finalists will be added to the Cobra Nation Facebook page in no particular order.  The video with the most Facebook likes at the end of the voting period will determine the winner and runners-up. 


Grand Prize: Go Pro Original HD Hero Naked with optional LCD controller, and accessory mounting grab bag; 24” Orion Flat Screen; and a Cobra T-Shirt!  

First Runner-Up: iPod Shuffle with $30 iTunes card; and Cobra Umbrella!  

Second Runner-Up: Cobra T-Shirt and Cobra Pit Board!

Running time: 4 minutes maximum, including any credits.  

Sponsors: Video Submission must include the Cobra logo and partner companies' logos; Autolite, Bel-Ray, CARD, HAAS, Liquid Performance, and SKF in the opening credits.  They may also appear throughout the video, but is not mandatory. Logos may be downloaded below.

Originality: Video Submission must be the original work of the entrant and must not have been previously published or have won an award or prize of any kind. Previously published submissions from publicized contests will be disqualified. Video clips or other works created by others must not be included in the Video Submission.

Judging Criteria: Focus on the Cobra brand, Creativity, Inspiration Motocross/off-road motorcycle riding, Technical proficiency.

Music: Entrant may use music, but must be his or her own original music. Other music, samples, files, or other works created by others that you do not have the rights to must not be included.

Permission: Contestant’s are responsible for securing all necessary rights, licenses, clearances, releases, consents and/or permissions from any third parties that appear in the video entry.

You Tube: Please note that Cobra Moto, LLC is not associated in any way with YouTube. You must comply with YouTube’s terms of use.


The Contest is open to anyone of any age around the world.  If an entrant is under 18 years of age at the time of entry, a parent or legal guardian must agree to the Contest Official Rules.


Each entrant must comply with all the terms and conditions of these Official Rules.  By participating in the Contest, each entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to be bound by and accepts the terms and conditions of these Official Rules and the decisions of Cobra Moto, LLC and its judges (including, without limitation, decisions regarding eligibility of entries, the selection of entrants and winners, and the awarding of prizes), which are final and binding in all respects.


Video Submissions must NOT:

• depict dangerous or reckless conduct, including risky or unsafe techniques or activities.

• include trademarks, logos, or copyrighted material not owned by entrant (other than the Cobra logo and partner companies as permitted by these Official Rules.)

• use individuals’ names, in whole or in part (including the entrant’s last name), without written permission.

• contain profanity, content promoting illegal activity, hateful content of any kind, content that promotes violence or harm, or any other offensive, obscene, or inappropriate content.  


The Official Entry Form must include all requested information, including, without limitation, all contact information along with a Video Submission that complies with these Official Rules. Each Video Submission and all components of each Video Submission must be entrant’s own original creation (an original is the product of one’s own mind and is not a copy or imitation,) created by entrant. Modifying, enhancing, or altering a third party’s pre-existing work does not qualify as an entrant’s original creation. Use of the Cobra logo and partner companies in the Video Submission is permitted. Cobra Moto, LLC reserves the right to edit or blur references to third party brands, logos or works. Failure to follow the requirements and guidelines set forth may, in the sole and absolute discretion of Cobra Moto, LLC, result in disqualification; however, Cobra Moto, LLC also reserves the right to not disqualify an entrant for failure to follow the requirements and guidelines set forth.


By entering the Contest, each entrant represents and warrants that

1.      The Video Submission is the original work of the entrant and has not been published previously, in whole or in part, or won an award or prize of any kind.

2.      The entrant has obtained all the rights, licenses, and permissions in writing from each person (including parent/legal guardian) who appears in or helped to create the Video Submission and will provide copies to Cobra Moto, LLC upon request.

3.      The Video Submission does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party, including, but not limited to, copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, logos, contract and licensing rights, rights of publicity or privacy, moral rights, or any other intellectual property rights. Entries that are deemed by Cobra Moto, LLC, in its sole discretion, to be in violation of these Official Rules, or to be otherwise infringing, defamatory, or generally not in keeping with the image of Cobra Moto, LLC, will be rejected, void, deleted and/or disqualified.

4.      Each entry and Video Submission, including, without limitation, all contents, concepts and ideas embodied therein, become the exclusive property of Cobra Moto, LLC. Each entrant hereby assigns to Cobra Moto, LLC, its successors and assigns all right, title and interest in and to the entry and Video Submission, including, without limitation, all intellectual property and other proprietary rights without expectation of compensation or acknowledgement. Cobra Moto, LLC has no obligation to maintain any of the entries or Video Submissions, or any information or ideas contained therein, as confidential or proprietary.

5.      Cobra Moto, LLC has the perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide and fully-transferable right (but not obligation) to edit, modify, display, cut, rearrange, add to, delete from, copy, reproduce, translate, dub, adapt, publish, exploit, make derivative works of, and use the content of and elements embodied in the Video Submissions and the entries themselves in any and all media, including, but not limited to, digital and electronic media, computer, audio and audiovisual media (whether now existing or hereafter devised), in any language, throughout the world, and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, consent, or compensation, regardless of whether the entrant’s Video Submission receives a prize. Entrant hereby irrevocably waives all “moral rights” with respect to the Video Submission and all uses of the Video Submission to the fullest extent permitted by law.

6.      The winning entries may be used by Cobra Moto, LLC in its discretion to encourage and promote a product. Cobra Moto, LLC is not required to use any Video Submission, including, without limitation, the winning Video Submission, on the Cobra Moto, LLC website, or any other marketing format.
